A Home For Boys In Need Since 1974
The Ranch is a 24-hour foster-care facility for boys between the ages of 10 & 18.
Our Mission
The mission of the Maryland Sheriffs' Youth Ranch (MSYR) is to provide disadvantaged and "at risk" youth with guidance and support in a healthy, safe and supportive residential setting, accompanied by caring staff and counselors, to assist them in becoming productive members of society.
Company Profile
We are licensed by the State of Maryland Department of Human Resources/Social Services Administration. Residents are referred by their local Department of Social Services. They come from families who have been troubled by drug or alcohol abuse, mental illness, poverty, incarceration, abandonment, abuse, neglect, or family crisis.
The idea of a youth ranch came from the Maryland Sheriffs' Association over 25 years ago. Concerned law enforcement officers envisioned a program designed to help at-risk youth. Their goal was to prevent delinquency caused by an unstable home life.
